Full 2009 Schedule Released
The 2009 varsity football schedule has been posted. As previously reported, the Horns will open the season once again
in Hico versus Ira. The remaining scheduled opponents are unchanged from last season. Gordon's first three games will be away
in '09 as they will travel to Walnut Springs after Hico and then to Newcastle. The home opener will be versus Richland Springs followed by
two more home games versus Abilene Christian High and the district opponent Gustine Tigers. The Longhorns will next travel
to May, where the Horns defeated Robert Lee in Bi-District action last season. Gordon will round out the regular season
with a home game against Rising Star, a trip to Strawn, and a final home game versus Blanket.

Six-Man All-Star Game
Gordon will be represented at the 2009 All-Star game with a coach and a player. Coach Tye Adams will lead the Division I
East All-Star team. This will be the first time a Gordon coach has coached an All-Star football team since the early 1970s. Gordon's
Daniel Vargas will represent the team as a player. Vargas was a standout running back and defensive lineman.
The game is scheduled for the evening of July 18th in Lubbock.

Longhorn's Set to Open 2009 vs Ira
Gordon will once again travel to Hico to open the coming season. The Longhorns are scheduled to take on Ira at noon on Saturday
August 29. It will be the first ever meeting between these two schools. Last season the Horns dismantled the #2 Valley Patriots
in Hico by a score of 60-38. Gordon went on to finish the 2008 season with an 11-2 record and a #2 final ranking. Ira finished last
season at 7-4 with a #12 final ranking. The remainder of the 2009 schedule will be released soon.
